Drees & Sommer - Project management in China

In mid-2003, the new company DSD Shanghai Ltd. has started its activities in China - with the target of offering Drees & Sommer services on the worldwide largest economic growth market.

Shareholders are the Drees & Sommer International and its local partner Prof. Shinzhao Ding with his company SIPM. Drees & Sommer International, headed by Dr. Ralf Haendl, is the responsible company for structuring and coordinating all international activities of the Drees & Sommer Group. DSD Shanghai Ltd. and SIPM dispose of branch offices in Shanghai, Peking, Jinan, Harbin and Wuhan. With SIPM, a number of complex projects have been realised in the past 14 years. In collaboration with SIPM, DSD Shanghai Ltd. - with Drees & Sommer as well as Chinese staff - offers an extensive range of services in the sector of project development and project control with individual solutions for international and local clients. Solutions from one source and in three languages: Chinese, German and English. With professional know-how, Drees & Sommer staff are able to satisfy country-specific requirements and cope with projects of any size.
Main focus of Drees & Sommer are project management services as well as structural engineering consultancy - services, that have proved on an international market in the course of the past 34 years. A, for China, new service is project documentation using the software PKM©. The internet-based Project Communication Management (PKM) ensures rapid data exchange. This enables all project participants - anywhere in the world - to have access to all facts and documents. The program has been adjusted to Chinese requirements and already translates and supports several professional project developments.
Hans-Peter Holler is Managing Director of the new office in Shanghai. Since 1974, he has been managing complex construction projects for Drees & Sommer. From 1995 to 1999 he occupied the position of overall project manager of the Daimler-Chrysler project Potsdamer Platz in Berlin.

Currently, DSD Shanghai Ltd supports the following projects in China: The German Centre with a seven-storey office complex in Shanghai, which will be the new location for German companies. Completion is scheduled for July 2004. PKM, facilitating rapid data transfer, will also be used in the construction of the chemical factory Wanhua Chemics in Ningbo.
