Strong growth for Drees & Sommer in the East

In Russia, the Ukraine and Kazakhstan - the up-and-coming economic centers of the East - whole new cities are being created in development zones. Drees & Sommer has had its own office in Moscow since autumn 2005 and is contributing its expertise in development management, master planning and project management to a broad range of projects. An industrial park in Stupino south of Moscow, the construction of a nearly 140,000 sqm shopping mall near St Petersburg, and the development of a city for 85,000 inhabitants in Kazakhstan are just some of the projects being managed by Drees & Sommer.

Steffen Sendler (29), is General Manager in Moscow and heads up another two German-Russian teams in St. Petersburg and Almaty, Kazakhstan. With over 25 years' project experience at Drees & Sommer, Hanns Ludwig Fiechtner (52) is supporting Drees & Sommer Russia. "The Russian market is highly dynamic - and it is important that Germany participates in this development as Russia's partner." Stupino Industrial Park - Platform for companies in the Moscow region
Drees & Sommer has been commissioned by the Russian company Industriepark Stupino GmbH to work with design consultants develop Eller + Eller, Architects and Jones Lang LaSalle to develop a concept for an industrial park on a 560 hectare site in the city of Stupino, 85 km south of Moscow. The park will have hotels and facilities for production, logistics and education. The concept is to provide a comprehensive range of services to offer companies a platform for development in the Moscow region. The developer/operator wants to meet the needs of expanding companies and investors by offering everything from ready-to-build sites with infrastructure to turnkey buildings or leasing solutions. The Drees & Sommer master plan is to be integrated into the general plan for the Moscow region and Stupino regional plan. In the area of project management, Drees & Sommer is advising Industriepark Stupino GmbH on technical and economic issues.

Shopping mall near St Petersburg
Here, Drees & Sommer is working for one of the key players in the Russian furniture market. During the construction of the 139,000 square meter shopping mall in the Leningrad Oblast, Drees & Sommer is responsible for client-side quality and schedule control. The megamall - which is to be completed by the end of 2006 - has numerous shopping precincts with boutiques and specialist shops, an ice rink with associated restaurants an cafes, anchor stores, and probably a cinema. 

Kazakhstan
Master plan for Kalkaman in Almaty: A new city
Drees & Sommer is developing a master plan for the 700-hectare Kalkaman site in Almaty - former capital and now financial center of Kazakhstan - for Kazakh investor and developer TS Engineering of Almaty. Integrated into the overall structure of the city, the master plan provides for a new city center with a broad range of residential properties and shops and stores, offices and administration buildings. The initial planning phase involves 350 hectares of the total of 700. Currently, Drees & Sommer and TS Engineering are working on preparations for implementation of the master plan with the support of Planungsgruppe 4, a Berlin-based consulting company.

Ukraine
Linde Industrial gases expands
As a partner of Linde-KCA-Dresden, which is responsible within the Linde group for the construction of chemical and pharmaceutical plant, Drees & Sommer is supporting the company's expansion into Easter Europe. As a first project, Drees & Sommer is providing engineering consulting and project management services for a food processing plant in Kiev at which Linde is responsible for the technical systems.
