Project management for German Business Park in Dubai

The unusual complex designed by Fischer Architekten is intended to further boost trade relations between Germany and the United Arab Emirates. In August 2007, German Business Park FZCO commissioned Drees & Sommer with project management for the 150 million euro new building in Dubai Silicon Oasis, which is to be opened in 2009.
  
The project managers' task is to adhere to budget and schedules while completing the project to German quality standards. As an expert in binational project management, Drees & Sommer is establishing planning hubs in both Germany and Dubai. In this way, the project managers are combining German know-how with local competence. The multilingual teams are familiar with both markets and mentalities and support the client by providing management and consulting services in both countries. The Project Communication System PCS is being used during the construction of the German Business Center to facilitate communication between the two countries. As a result, the client is always aware of the current status of construction, whether currently in Dubai or Germany.

The design, technology, energy concept and user concept of the building will be unique and reflect the finest German culture and technology. The German Business Park will accommodate retail floorspace, a Business Class hotel, shops and restaurants, as well as underground parking for 1,700 cars. The 150 million euro complex will have a gross floor area of some 143,000 square meters. As a Green Building, the business park will be equipped with a climate control system to convert the plentiful heat from the sun into cool air.

Construction is scheduled to begin in 2008, with opening planned for the end of 2009. The German Center Dubai - which provides qualified start-up assistance to German companies in the Gulf States - will also be integrated into the complex.
