Construction boom in eastern Europe - Drees & Sommer there from the start

Eastern Europe currently offers Drees & Sommer numerous possibilities for involvement in construction projects. Not only are the new EU members Bulgaria and Romania attracting foreign investors, but the property markets in Russia, the Ukraine and Kazakhstan are growing.  Drees & Sommer maintains its own offices in these countries and contributes extensive know-how in development management, master plan development and project management.

Bulgaria and Romania membership the EU has resulted in a real boom in the growing construction industry in eastern Europe. Drees & Sommer has been present in both countries for many years and knows how to meet the special requirements of the regional construction industry.

Upswing continues in Bulgaria
The recently joined EU member has been enjoying a boom with annual growth rates well over 10 percent. The focus of the Bulgarian real estate market is especially on business parks, shopping centers and logistics centers. Since 2005, Drees & Sommer has been providing consulting and project management services for the construction of high-quality properties - supplemented by site supervision and quality control. For an increasing number of institutional investors, Drees & Sommer Bulgaria is also carrying out technical Due Diligence for the purchase and sale of properties. The expertise and knowledge of regional peculiarities of the 25 Germany and Bulgarian employees forms the basis for successful construction management in Bulgaria.

New services for Romania
Drees & Sommer has been operating in Romania since 1996. A team of some 60 employees provides project management, Due Diligence and site supervision services. Major investments are primarily in the region of Bucharest, but first projects are also being undertaken in Timisoara, Constanta, Brasov, Cluj, Iasi and Craiova. Drees & Sommer Romania is headquartered in Bucharest and has local offices Timisoara and Cluj. There has been a growth of business in the areas of infrastructure and logistics since Romania's accession to the EU. Drees & Sommer will service these sectors increasingly in coming years.

Development management in Russia, the Ukraine and Kazakhstan
Drees & Sommer has been operating in Russia since 2001 and has maintained offices in Moscow and St. Petersburg since 2005. In addition, projects are being implemented in Samara, Rostov-on-Don, Nishniy Novgorod and Almaty in Kazakhstan. Currently, the focus is on large-scale development management and on project management and quality assurance for large commercial centers. In addition to qualified project management, Russian clients attach substantial importance to technical consulting, for example on office concepts. Such projects can be implemented with the benefit of Drees & Sommer's extensive experience. About multilingual employees (Russian, German, English) look after Russian, Kazakh and western European clients.

Bulgaria and Romania

New project in Sofia: Sofia Outlet Center
In November 2006, Drees & Sommer took on project management and project controlling for the new Sofia Outlet Center in the Bulgarian capital. The shopping center is to be completed by the end of 2008.

Kaufland supermarkets in Bulgaria and Romania
Drees & Sommer is supporting Kaufland with its expansion in Romania and Bulgaria by providing project control and overall technical management for the construction of Kaufland markets, 20 to date. As the result of a long-term market presence in Romania and Bulgaria, Drees & Sommer has the local knowledge required to support Kaufland and other customers in developing the eastern European market.

German sausage factory in Romania
Reinert, Germany's second largest sausage manufacturer, opened its new production plant in Transylvania at the end of 2006. Drees & Sommer Romania supported the project with extensive project management services for a year. In May 2006, Drees & Sommer was commissioned to undertake project leadhouse function for the new building.

Premium Plaza, Romania
Drees & Sommer is undertaking full project management for the construction of the new Premium Plaza in Bucharest Drees & Sommer. The EUR 11 million building is to be completed in time to be occupied in March 2008 after a project period of only one year.

Russia
New Family Shopping Center in St. Petersburg
Drees & Sommer provided comprehensive project management for the construction of the new Family Shopping Center in St. Petersburg. The project began in September 2005 and was completed in November 2006.
