17.07.2008

Drees & Sommer Berlin GmbH will provide project management services for the future major  Berlin Brandenburg International (BBI) airport. The extensive range of tasks includes construction management services for the passenger terminal and operational buildings of the planned high-tech airport. Commencement of work on the terminal also marks the official start of Drees & Sommer Berlin's activity.

Drees & Sommer - which is also involved in airport projects in Stuttgart, Frankfurt, Hamburg and Vienna - brings to the project experienced employees who have successfully undertaken projects including Potsdamer Platz. Tasks involve project management and technical & economic controlling for general planning, as well as contract award and construction.

"We are pleased to be involved in the construction of what is probably the largest infrastructure project in Germany at this time. Our role focuses on process optimization with a special eye on securing schedule and cost goals. We have taken up this challenge and I am glad that we have passed the first milestone by starting our work as construction of the passenger terminal gets underway," said Hanns Ludwig Fiechtner, Managing Director, Drees & Sommer Berlin.

Thinking differently, finding innovative solutions, and approaching every project with passion: These traits - which have made Drees & Sommer Germany's leader in project management and real estate consulting - are also characteristic of the Berlin regional office. Operating in the nation's capital since 1992, Drees & Sommer Berlin - which now has 40 employees - has handled over 350 projects. These include, for example, controlling for the remodeling and rehabilitation of the Admiralspalast (Admiral's Palace), cost planning and scheduling for a new building and remodeling of an existing building for the German Federal Bank, and various management services for the Spindlers Hof project. Other major infrastructure projects currently being managed by the group include the Stuttgart 21 rail project and transport infrastructure for the Allianz Arena, Munich.
