The standard work by Prof. Dr.-Ing. Hans Sommer describes in a very practical way the key elements of the planning and construction processes and project manager's tasks, methods and tools. The book is aimed at project managers, project developers and construction specialists, as well as at those representing principals and investors.
The reorganization of the content makes the book even easier to use. And new content includes sections on sustainable building and on consulting services covering all aspects linking economy and sustainability. The 174-page book is published by Springer Verlag and costs 69 Euro. The English version will be published soon.
Excerpt from the preface:
Building has become an ever more complex network of increasingly rapid processes, decisions and measures. At the same time, however, there is a trend towards sustainable building - to buildings, which offer the best possible combination of functionality and architecture, energy efficiency and healthy recyclable construction materials while achieving the greatest possible overall economy. [.] The key to competing successfully in the current complex and dynamic environment is project managers who are fully acquainted with the subject matter and relationships involved in planning and construction, and who master modern management methods."
