Description

Minimal energy costs - Meeting the company's own stringent requirements with regard to resource conservation, sustainability and economy, the Drees & Sommer office building Obere Waldplätze 11 uses environmentally friendly technology and minimum energy costs to offer highest levels of comfort.

Geothermal energy concept - Earth probes and piping in ceilings are used to heat the building in winter and cool it in summer. At 100 kWh/m²a the primary energy consumption for heating, cooling, ventilation and lighting is a pioneering achievement. The cost of the concept has been amortized within four years, resulting in operating costs of less than one Euro per m²a.

Sustainable office building - Designed back in 1999, the company's headquarters in Stuttgart has such a high level of sustainability that in 2009 it was awarded the highest German certification: the new Gold-rated German Sustainable Building Seal. In the meantime the building concept has been copied multiple times and further developed.
