The ravages of time - The 50 years since its construction have left their mark on the facade of the Stuttgart Television Tower.
Towering task - Preserving the 316-meter-high symbol of the state capital required immediate action. As a first step, the aluminum facade hade to be completely rehabilitated. This was followed by comprehensive upgrading of technical and safety equipment to ensure that the tower met all current standards.
Saving a landmark - Südwestfunk (Southwest Broadcasting) commissioned Drees & Sommer in 2004 based on long years of positive experiences and the company's holistic approach to upgrade planning. Thanks to the complete rehabilitation of the facades, the long-term use of the building as a transmission tower and tourist attraction is ensured. The modernization also resulted in significant operating cost savings for SWR building management. Two positive outcomes, from which both Stuttgart and SWR benefit equally.
