Drees & Sommer is supporting this Public Private Partnership project and achieving a saving of some 13 percent compared to a go-it-alone approach.
At the end of March 2010, the foundation stone was laid for a health center in the grounds of the existing hospital in Ostfildern-Ruit. This Private Public Partnership (PPP) project involves the creation of a gross floor area of 16,000 square meters with an emergency room, intensive care unit, dialysis center, private wards, and an area for outpatient surgery.
The Paracelsus Clinic's construction project represents Germany's first Public Private Partnership in health care. Drees & Sommer has been providing extensive services since 2007. In addition to a profitability study in the leadup to the project, the preparation of tender documents and support during negotiations, the experts have also carried out project controlling and will support the EUR 47 million project through to commissioning in summer 2011.
The Public Consult consortium of bidders - selected by the principal as their private-sector partner - comprises Public Consult Berlin, the Weinbrenner.Single.Arabzadeh architectural practice of Nürtingen, and the Stuttgart construction company Gustav Epple, with the Esslingen Department of Public Services as the operator. The consortium will undertake planning, construction and technical operation of the building for 25 years, as well as handling financing of the modern, interdisciplinary health center. The PPP approach will save the principal some 13 percent of the sum that would have been required for a go-it-alone approach.
