Together with experts of all sectors of the building branch the expert team of the Drees & Sommer Group founded on July, 25th 2007 in Stuttgart the Association of public profit for sustainable building which acts under the umbrella organisation of the World Green Building Council.
The focus of the association is the identification and support of solutions and ways for sustainable building - not only in planning, but also during the building phase and using period. In doing so, the association awards quality signs for especially environmental friendly and resources saving and economical efficient buildings. The evaluation is based on a life cycle perspective of the whole building, an important basic principle for efficient sustainable buildings. The certification system is based on German environment standards and environment aims and is developed in line with the international regulation for certification systems. With this it combines five superior protection targets: the resource protection, the protection of the natural environment, securing and protection of values, health and comfort of building users as well as improvement of the surroundings and protection of public goods. This is the first time that a German environment seal for building and city areas, that has higher quality than any other existing international green labels is available on the market. The association plans the first certification of exemplary buildings in 2008.
