On September 7, 2007 Drees & Sommer Process Consulting - together with fischer Prozessberatung (process consulting) - showed how Lean Construction works.
Some 20 guests - including construction companies specializing in building construction and fitout, engineering offices and prime contractors - learned how lean construction was applied in the construction of the new Hohenzollernpark II residential complex in Holzgerlingen near Stuttgart.
Presentations included Prof. Dr. Hans Sommer, Chairman of the Executive Board of Drees & Sommer talking about causes of waste on building sites and how waste can be avoided with a Lean Construction System (LCS). The participants then saw the system in use during a tour of the site in Holzgerlingen. They saw, for example, how the LCS optimizes planning and subprocess workflows. There was great interest in these new approaches to more efficient construction, as reflected by lively discussion throughout the event.
