25.09.2007
On September 24, 2007 Prime Minister of Baden-Württemberg Günther H. Oettinger and Lord Mayor of Stuttgart Dr. Wolfgang Schuster opened the Stuttgart Clinic's Education and Supply Center.
In consortium with HWP Planungsgesellschaft mbH, Drees & Sommer ensured that the EUR 62 million project was completed within budget after a construction period of just under two years. During the ceremony, Lord Mayor Dr. Wolfgang Schuster expressly thanked Drees & Sommer for their professional project management.
In addition to schools and further education facilities, the Education and Supply Center accommodates the day care center, the central pharmacy and the kitchens. Materials management is connected to the Katharinenhospital by an underground tunnel. The new building has a gross floor area of over 15,000 sqm.
The Education and Supply Center is the first phase of the Stuttgart Clinic's restructuring of buildings and medical facilities. The City of Stuttgart plans to consolidate facilities in Central Stuttgart over the next few years. Preparations for the construction of the Olgahospital - Germany's largest children's hospital - have already begun. Drees & Sommer is supporting Germany's largest hospital construction project by providing project management services.
