Drees & Sommer is ensuring the timely remodeling of the Carnuntum Archeological Park in Austria.
Established in several phases since 1988, Carnuntum Archeological Park - located east of Vienna - is one of Austria's key tourist attractions. In order to to provide a contemporary educational experience, the operator decided to undertake extensive modernization. A bidding consortium comprising Drees & Sommer, DI Andrea Hinterleitner-Sedlacek and DI Michael Jirek was awarded the project management contract in summer 2007. The project includes redesign of the visitor center with Roman stylistic elements and sophisticated technology, as well as a complete transport concept both inside and outside the excavation site. Construction work will also be undertaken throughout the excavation site, catering areas will be renovated, and the museum and amphitheater will be remodelled. By 2011, new life will be breathed into the once flourishing metropolis.
