In mid August 2007 Garmisch Partenkirchen Clinic's oncology department moved into new premises.
Official operation of the facilities started following the inauguration at the end of September 2007. Drees & Sommer Munich has managed construction at the Garmisch Partenkirchen Clinic since 2001 and is responsible for cost, schedules and quality. The costs for Phase VI total EUR 14.1 million. This includes a new waste disposal center and the rehabilitation of the purpose-built facility. In the period to March 2009, four operating theaters with adjacent examination areas will be upgraded to the current state of the art while in full operation.
The relocation of the oncology department, preparatory measures in the internal medicine department and the temporary housing of two operating theaters in operation containers marked the successful completion of the first milestone of a total of three sub-phases for Phase VI at the Garmisch Partenkirchen Clinic.
Despite tight budgetary constraints, functional fitout of the medical treatment facilities was achieved to meet the needs of cancer patients. The new premises have been enthusiastically received by management, medical superintendents, employees - and above all by the patients.
