New campus for Vienna University of Economics and Business Administration

26.03.2008

A campus with a floor area of some 175,000 m² for teaching and research will be built at the exhibition grounds in Vienna's 2nd district. The university is scheduled to relocate there in 2012.

With over 21,000 students, Vienna is Europe's largest economics university. The new campus is being built to allow it to continue to meet all the demands of modern tertiary education. The complex will be built on a 88,000 m² site close to the Prater entertainment park. In addition to an auditorium center, a library, a learning center and several department buildings, a post-graduate building and buildings for administration and external service providers are also planned.

The consortium comprising Drees & Sommer and Delta Projektconsult is undertaking project control of the EUR 300 million complex. Currently, the project controllers are supporting preliminary review of the architectural competition. In parallel to this they are organizing structure, workflow and scheduling, thus laying a firm foundation for smooth implementation.
