Laying of foundation stone at the New Exhibition Centre Stuttgart

A good 1000 guests from politics, economy, administration and culture were present when Baden Würtemberg's Minister President Günther H. Oettinger, Ernst Pfister, Minister for Economic Affairs, and Stuttgart's Lord Mayor Dr Wolfgang Schuster laid the foundation stone of the New Exhibition Centre Stuttgart on 15 June 2005.
In his speech, Ulrich Bauer, Managing Director of the Project Enterprise "Neue Messe" thanked Drees & Sommer for the cooperation in partnership enabling the successful realisation of the exhibition. The Catholic bishop Dr Gebhard Fürst and the Protestant regional bishop Dr Gerhard Maier assumed the blessing of the foundation stone.
The partial opening of the New Exhibition is scheduled for April 2007. The opening of the entire complex is planned for September/October 2007. In order to keep to this deadline, 1500 workers are busy on Germany's currently largest building site. All three partner enterprises of the Drees & Sommer Group are engaged in the major project and concerned for the implementation of extensive services: Drees & Sommer Stuttgart is responsible for project management and contributed to the architecture competition, prepares awards of contracts and intensively consults the constructor and user. The team's central tasks are to ensure costs, dates and quality standards as well as coordinate all project participants. DS-Plan assumes services regarding building technology and facility management, while DS-Infra assume project management for the Exhibition Centre's traffic facilities and development thereof.
