The laying of a cornerstone on 15 July 2008 sounded the starting signal for construction work on new additions to the Olgahospital Paediatric Centre and the Frauenklinik Gynaecological Hospital in Stuttgart's city centre.
Together with guests from politics and society, Klinikum Stuttgart celebrated the beginning of work on the above-ground portion of the new structures. Since December 2002, in a working group with HWP Planungsgesellschaft mbH, Drees & Sommer has provided assistance to the Klinikum Stuttgart and the Public Works Service of the state capital of Stuttgart with project control for the EUR 270 m project. The experts from Drees & Sommer are responsible for scheduling management and project organisation and provide assistance to project management staff at the Public Works Service in relation to cost and quality compliance.Currently, in the first construction phase, which will extend until November 2009, the power control centre for the entire Klinikum is being built. After that, the remaining construction work is scheduled for completion by mid-2012. The project is an important component of the architectural restructuring of the Klinikum Stuttgart. A total of EUR 800 m will be invested in this effort by 2018. Drees & Sommer has been commissioned with the overall project control for the entire project.
