Re-opening: Industrial house Pforzheim
11.07.2005
In mid-June 2005, the rebuilt industrial house was opened in the heart of Germany's gold town Pforzheim in the presence of numerous invited guests. The new development on 10.455 square metres will in future house the centre of Pforzheim's jewellery trade featuring jewellery and clocks in all their facets.
Prior to development, Drees & Sommer Stuttgart examined the feasibility of the ambitious revitalisation project for the owner, Industriehaus Pforzheim GmbH. The feasibility study formed the basis for negotiations with the Department for the Protection of Historical Monuments. In doing so, Drees & Sommer were supporting the constructor. After intensive talks, the owner and the Department for the Protection of Historical Monuments decided in favour of a complete demolition of the old building and a reconstruction true to the original in order to bring the construction up to the current stand of technology. Drees & Sommer attended the 20 million Euro project with comprehensive project management and ensured smooth project development during the construction time of three years keeping to costs and deadlines.
