As part of a restructuring process at solar cell manufacturer Q-Cells SE, infrastructure facility management has been contracted out to an external service provider.
Drees & Sommer supported this process and provided technical support to the Q-Cells SE facility management team. Legal advice was provided by the law firm Braun & Rieske. The first step involved an inventory and definition of all 100,000 square meters of floor and glass in the two locations Solar Valley and Gardianstrasse Thalheim by partner SIM FM. In parallel to this, Drees & Sommer recorded the requirements for cleaning of all buildings and defined these for the tender documents. The challenge was to find a service provider who could meet the high quality requirement for the services to be provided, and who was also in a position to take on the Q-Cells SE cleaning staff in the form of a transfer of operations in accordance with § 613a of the German Civil Code, integrating them into their own company. Gegenbauer Facility Management met all of these criteria. New permanent positions resulted in additional jobs in the region.
Good interdisciplinary cooperation on the part of all involved made it possible for engineering, labor regulatory and organizational elements to be combined in a sensible way, resulting in a high double-digit percentage cost reduction for Q-Cells SE.
