Construction work on the new university building in Düsseldorf started with the laying of the foundation stone at the beginning of July 2009.
Drees & Sommer is responsible for project control of the project, ensuring that it is completed on schedule and within budget. The Oeconomicum will house the Faculty of Economics with the newly founded Institute for Industrial Economy of the Heinrich Heine University, Düsseldorf. The three-story building with a floor area of 4,600 sqm is a gift from the Schwarz Schütte Foundation. The first students are scheduled to attend lectures in the Oeconomicum in Winter Semester 2010.
