Flower of the East: the construction has begun

A huge project of special kind will be developed on the island Kish (Iran) in the Persian Gulf during the coming years.

Drees & Sommer International has been commissioned with the whole project management for this plant of a size of 220 hectares, which is similar to a city. The project consists of a business park, a hotel of the higher luxury segment and several five-star hotels. In addition to this, a marina, a 18-hole golf course and housing estates with villas between 300 and 1,200 square metres, terraced houses and apartments will be developed here. The client is the Flower of the East Project Company.

Since the commissioning of Drees & Sommer International in spring 2003 the product concept and the feasibility study has been drawn up for the whole project and a completely new master plan has been developed. Within the context of a business card procedure an international competition was initiated for commissioning the general partners for the individual partial projects. Furthermore planers and executing companies were commissioned for preparing measures, like an expert's report for foundation soil, surveying, an expert's report for flow and the construction of the project extensive high-quality fence.

It is sensational that the Iranian government fully approved the project at the beginning of June as first foreign investment, which has been part of the tourism sector for 25 years. This was a necessary prerequisite for the beginning of the construction and could only be facilitated under high expenditure of the investor and with the corresponding support of Drees & Sommer. The construction works have begun now!
