On 18th September 2009, the Magdalena Neff School was opened in Ehingen, Germany, in the presence of Ms. Annette Schavan, Federal German Minister for Education and Research.
Construction of the new, 10 million Euro building was completed in only 15 months, this in spite of unexpected problems with the ground beneath the building, the hard winter and the bankruptcy of one of the companies involved in the work. The Council of the Alb-Donau County had entrusted Drees & Sommer with managing the project for this career training institute for home economics, social pedagogy and social care services. By accelerating the construction activities, the project managers saw to it that the 4,500 gross square metre (approx. 40,000 square foot) floor area of the building was finished and ready within the narrow deadline and costing limits set for the project.
