Expo Real 2009: Optimism and intensive exchanges

09.10.2009

As one of the major exhibitors at the International Commercial Property Exposition, the Drees & Sommer group draws a positive conclusion from the three day trade fair.

There were fewer participants in the Expo Real this year - however, this did not detract from the quality of dialogue and the productive atmosphere at the trade fair. Well founded discussions were held at the 240 m² exhibition stand in Munich and it was noticeable that the whole sector was looking ahead judiciously. Property experts were agreed that the property crisis has its origins in the financial sector. And it became clear that the topic of sustainability continues to gain momentum. A tendency towards Green Building projects is also to be observed in markets such as Russia and the Ukraine. In this country, a broad expansion of sustainable building concepts is to be expected. As an example, the retailing company, Lidl, is pursuing an innovative energy concept, which is to be implemented in new branches.

For this year and the coming year, Dr. Andreas Blaschkowski, Executive Board Spokesman of the Drees & Sommer group, expects more orders from the public sector. "More public sector projects, especially also in the area of infrastructure, are again being initiated." Blaschkowski also expects that the future trend in all types of property will be towards higher quality and easily marketable space.

Amongst others, Leonid Bogdanov, CEO of the UCD (Universal Development Construction) group of companies in Kiev, and Jürgen Schroeder, Chairman of Aareal Estate AG gave specialist presentations at the Drees & Sommer stand. Schroeder values the support given by international project management in the bank's activities abroad. Leonid Bogdanov, the guest from Kiev, spoke about the model of a Green Building project, which is being realised jointly with Drees & Sommer in the Ukraine and about the trend towards green development in this market. In addition to the experts who participated in the event, Günther Oettinger, Prime Minister of the state of Baden-Württemberg, also visited the Drees & Sommer stand.
