Spectacular inauguration: Arena Ludwigsburg opened

28.10.2009

The multipurpose hall was inaugurated at the beginning of October with a Rock Baroque Spectacle. Drees & Sommer Stuttgart has supported the project from the start.

Construction of the multipurpose hall with adjacent hotel, business premises and parking on the 15,000 sqm former Nestlé site in Ludwigsburg started at the beginning of 2008. Drees & Sommer has supported the City of Ludwigsburg since the idea of a multifunction hall was first raised, and has been a driving force behind implementation of the PPP process. The PPP reduced the investment volume for the hall to # 15 million, a 29% saving compared to conventional public-sector financing. The total project volume was # 53 million.

Experts in a network comprising Drees & Sommer Project Management and Drees & Sommer Advanced Building Technologies provided extensive services. Following market and needs analysis and a feasibility study, the project development phase was rounded out with a profitability forecast and an implementation strategy. Drees & Sommer then managed the EU-wide negotiation process for planning, finance, construction and 20-year operation of the building, and developed the tender documents for construction, building services equipment and facilities, and operation. During implementation, Drees & Sommer carried out building site controlling as well as acceptance and handover management to ensure the high quality of the hall, including the underground car park.
