Competition in China: Drees & Sommer Ding Shanghai Ltd. is commissioned

At the beginning of January, 2004 the City Planning Department Nanning commissioned Drees & Sommer Shanghai with the development of a master plan for the China ASEAN Business and Trade City.

In the future, the Business & Trade City builds the centre for the unification of the south east nations of Asia (ASEAN), which include the Philippines, Malaysia, Thailand, Brunei, Singapore, Indonesia, Vietnam, Myanmar, Laos and Camboya. In addition to the actual trade centre with office buildings, exhibition and sales areas the client plans hotels, buildings for services and administration, retail trade and gastronomy, public and cultural facilities, living, sport and recreation space on altogether 220 hectares. The master plan development is coordinated by Drees & Sommer Shanghai together with the local cooperation partner SIPM of Prof. Shinzao Ding. Subcontractor for the development of the master plan concept is Albert Speer & Partner together with Brandenfels Landscape. Drees & Sommer Shanghai is in competition with two further international planning offices and presents the master plan before the decision committee in Nanning in April.
