Drees & Sommer donates EUR 15,000 Stuttgart Youth Opera
Come to the Cabaret! Some 300 invited guests from industry and government attended Drees & Sommer's traditional Summer Night of Music and Cuisine on June 10, 2011 in Stuttgart-Vaihingen - this year for the first time with children. Artists from the Stuttgart State Opera took the audience on a journey into a time of turmoil with a show entitled title 'Songs, love and the best of the 1930s'. The surprise of the evening was a theatrical performance by the outgoing Director of the Stuttgart State Opera Albrecht Puhlmann. Following years of close cooperation with Drees & Sommer, he was not going to leave without giving his own parting performance. Puhlmann showed stature by acting the role of a head waiter, carrying a cleaning cloth and serving tray while waiting on actors on stage.
Prof. Dr. Hans Sommer - who brought his customary charm and humor to the role of Master of Ceremonies - thanked Albrecht Puhlmann for his performance and valued cooperation. The Stuttgart State Opera has provided the musical program for the Summer Night for many years. Albrecht Puhlmann accepted the traditional donation - a check for EUR 15,000 - on behalf of the Stuttgart Youth Opera.
Thanks to child care, some 30 children were able to accompany their parents for the first time. They were kept occupied with various activities, including building small solar-powered windmills reflecting Drees & Sommer's commitment to sustainability - a task they undertook with great enthusiasm.
