The Federal Garden Festival cable car starts operation on July 1, 2010.
Having supported the contract award process for the construction of the cable car,
Drees & Sommer is now undertaking high-level schedule and cost controlling for the project. These activities are part of overall project control for the Federal Horticultural Show. A special challenge for the project is the fact that the cable car is located in the UNESCO 'Central Rhine' World Heritage Site, and crosses a federal waterway, a railway, and a federal road.
Following the official opening by the Minister President of Rhineland-Palatinate, Kurt Beck, and the Lord Mayor of Koblenz Joachim Hofmann-Göttig on July 1, 2010, from July 4 until autumn 2010 the cable car will bring visitors from the Deutsches Eck to the Ehrebreitstein fortress plateau. On April 15, 2011, the cable car will then be re-commissioned for three years of operation from the opening of the Federal Horticultural Show.
