Sustainable building for the Protestant Church in Berlin

Drees & Sommer provides comprehensive consulting services.

Following the merger of the German Protestant Church's Social Service Agency and the Protestant Church Development Service to form the Protestant Agency for Development and Social Welfare (Evangelisches Werk für Entwicklung & Diakonie), some 640 employees from three locations will move to a newly constructed office building in Berlin. The building, realized by a developer near the main railway station, will be leased by the agency.

Drees & Sommer has been supporting the new users with consulting services such as tenant management , requirements management and facility management consulting since the start of the project in 2009. Working in close cooperation with the tenants has allowed the complex user requirements to be developed during the merger process and reflected in the lease agreement. The key aim has been to keep the primary energy demand below 70 kWh/m² per annum to meet the requirements for the DGNB (German Sustainable Building Certificate) Gold label.

The move to the new building - which includes retail outlets in addition to a conference area and a canteen - is planned for October 2012.
