Topping-out ceremony for Roman thermal baths in Carnuntum Archeological Park

10.05.2010

The topping-out ceremony for the world's first fully reconstructed Roman thermal baths was celebrated in Austria in April 2010.

The project is part of the expansion of Carnuntum Archaeological Park east of Vienna, which invites visitors to experience the world of the Roman metropolis of Carnuntum 1,800 years ago.

In 2007, Drees & Sommer undertook project management for the Carnuntum Archaeological Park construction projects in cooperation with Civil Engineering Company Hilei & Jirek and is ensuring on-schedule completion of the work by 2011.

In addition to the Roman baths, the #26 million project involves the remodeling of the Visitor Center and a complete transport concept both inside and outside the excavation site. The food & beverage facilities are also being upgraded.

The next event on the calendar is the opening of the Visitor Center as part of the opening of the Lower Austrian State Exhibition 2011.
