University Students & Graduates

University Students & Graduates

Students and graduates are always welcome as interns at Drees & Sommer. Whether you want to do a voluntary or a mandatory internship: We offer exciting projects in a range of industries. For example, you could support the project management team with the construction of a new library or a shopping center, or support our experts working on Green Building certification. Regardless of what you want to contribute: We offer you the opportunity to enhance your knowledge in practice!

Join us in meetings, accompany us to the building site or to the client, and make your contribution to the success of our projects. But everyday tasks also include copying acquisition documents or conducting research – so you can see, an internship at Drees & Sommer offers a variety of tasks, which are not that different from those undertaken daily by project managers.

Internships are basically possibly in all areas of the company. Of course, the services you provide during your internship with us, will be appropriately remunerated.

Duration of internship: To ensure that you can get to cover as many topics as possible in the appropriate detail, you should plan plenty of time for your internship – we’re quite happy for it to be longer than three months. An internship can be a great start to your career at Drees & Sommer

Drees & Sommer High Flyers: High performers also qualify for inclusion in our “Drees & Sommer High Flyers” intern retention program. We support all participants throughout their university studies and also offer them many opportunities for networking and exclusive insights into our projects.

Christian Tovar
Project Manager, Zurich

"During my internship, I had first-hand experience of the project manager’s work and formed a bond with the company. I kept in touch with Drees & Sommer through the Durchstarter program. As Drees & Sommer has a global presence, I was able to join the company in Zurich, my city of choice. Another huge advantage is that one can develop different specializations and work in different geographical locations – all within the same company.”

Student trainee activities

Would you like to gain practical experience and expand your theoretical horizon while studying? Then join us as a student employee!

Whether in process consulting, project management or energy management – student employees are welcome in all areas of the company.

Your hours are set individually. Generally, it is possible to work up to 20 hours per week during the semester. You can support us for up to 40 hours per week during semester breaks. Even after an internship as a student employee you have the opportunity of further developing your activities by the hour during the semester. You will be a full member of the team, supporting colleagues in day-to-day business or assigned your own task that you work on independently.

You can find currently advertised vacancies in our job market.

You can, for example, write your dissertation at the end of an internship with us. You decide whether you want to undertake a profitability analysis, write a concept paper, or further develop already existing methods. And if you don’t have an appropriate subject, we can work together to find one that suits us both. Our experienced staff will help you with your projects!

If you are interested please send a speculative application via our e-recruiting-system. Please indicate your initial thoughts on a topic or topic area for your dissertation and approximately when you would like to undertake it.

Direct entry

At Drees & Sommer, you will work in interdisciplinary teams – covering a range of trades and disciplines – on exciting and challenging building construction and infrastructure projects. Right from the beginning, you work independently on tasks with the support of experienced colleagues. During your first few years, we ensure you are involved in various phases of projects as a practical way of providing you with the necessary skills to become an experienced Project Manager. This means that you will often be working on several smaller projects at the same time. This also gives you a good insight into the different industries and clients.

You can also continue to develop both your professional knowledge and soft skills at the Drees & Sommer Academy. For us, the development of professional and personal networks is an integral part of our everyday work. You will often work with colleagues from different areas and other offices, allowing you to expand your own professional horizons, as well as grow your personal network. After this introductory phase, you take responsibility for larger projects, in some cases managing them entirely without supervision.

If you will be completing your Bachelor’s or Master’s degree sometime soon, why not take a look at our job market.
