The laying of the foundation stone in November 2014 marked the start of construction of the new VW plant. Drees & Sommer has been commissioned to undertake project control to ensure that the first vehicles roll off the assembly line in the first half of 2016.
The Drees & Sommer experts are assisting both with schedule control and with some areas of cost control for the project. Regular quality control checks are as much a part of the role as ongoing coordination of interfaces between plant & equipment and building construction. Construction work can only progress without delay if the processes in these areas dovetail. The site has 220 hectares of building land. The new Volkswagen Crafter is to be built there from 2016.
