Urban Leader Summit 2018: The Future of Buildings and Cities

From Digitization to Smart Cities and Blockchain: Challenges and Opportunities Currently Facing the Real Estate Sector Were the Focus of This Year’s Urban Leader Summit.

The annual conference of the Urban Land Institute (ULI) took place on May 17, 2018 in Offenbach am Main, Germany. Public-sector and private-sector real estate industry experts, along with representatives from various educational and research institutions, met there to discuss the latest developments in the construction and real estate industry and to share their views on future trends. How will livable cities look? What impact will digitization have on urban development? What opportunities does blockchain offer for the real estate industry? These were some of the questions of concern for participants and guests at the event. Klaus Dederichs, Associate Partner at Drees & Sommer SE, talked at the conference about how smart commercial buildings and artificial intelligence are revolutionizing the real estate industry, and their significance for the future of the sector. In addition to lectures, the event program included panel discussions and various workshops in which Drees & Sommer was actively involved. These gave participants the opportunity to go into the different topics in greater detail and exchange views with other attendees from different sectors.
