DomRömer Quarter Wins MIPIM Award 2019

On March 14, 2019 the winners of the MIPIM Awards 2019 were named in Cannes, France. The DomRömer project in Frankfurt am Main won one of the coveted prizes in the category Best Urban Regeneration Project. This has been a unique and especially challenging construction project, particularly as it involved the rebuilding of the old city center destroyed during World War II, with the construction of 15 near-replica buildings in addition to 20 new buildings that were required to blend into the historic setting.

Drees & Sommer was involved in the design of the area right from the start, as part of its project management service. In addition to working with and coordinating a large number of project stakeholders – more than 100 companies participated in the construction – another challenge was building redevelopment. Since its opening ceremony, Frankfurt's revitalized old city center has been a real magnet for visitors and tourists. The elaborately designed façades and the mix of old and new not only delight Frankfurt's residents and tourists, but also attract attention in the national and international professional sphere, as the MIPIM Award demonstrates.
