Stuttgart Library

The city library on Mailänder Platz - a cube pointing in all directions with a floor space of 44 x 44 metres and 40 metres high - houses some 500,000 media units. At the centre there is a 14 metre high room that should offer visitors an oasis of tranquillity. The gallery and reading room in the shape of an inverted pyramid extend upwards from the fourth to the eighth floor. The roof terrace is a further attraction. The building shell is designed as a double façade.
