  • ICAMPUS IM WERKSVIERTEL, MUNICH

     

    Rohde & Schwarz has its corporate headquarters in Munich’s Werksviertel factory district and owns a significant portion of the site. Rather than creating an office-only district, the property company R&S Immobilienmanagement GmbH set itself the goal of developing the iCampus into a diverse urban district for living and working. The mixed-use i9 building (formerly the Plaza), which was completed at the end of 2019, is emblematic of this aspiration. Set around a green courtyard, it accommodates a shopping center, two hotels, an office building, and a health and fitness complex including a boulder hall. 

    In addition to the iCampus projects i9, the iCube cooling center and the core renovation of ‘Building 11’ on the R&S factory site, construction projects include i5, i6 and i7 (formerly ALPHA, BETA and GAMMA), and the renovation of the old RHENANIA Villa (now i1) and the adjacent new buildings i2 and i3.

     

  • NEW CONSTRUCTION OF ORION “LEVI STRAUSS” LOGISTICS CENTER, DORSTEN

     

    The logistics site is Germany’s first fulfillment center (distribution center) built on the basis of the C2C approach. It comprises 70,000 square meters.

    In addition to the circular construction method, the site is characterized by a material database, among other things. This is helpful for efficient recycling, the exclusive use of healthy materials, sustainable energy and resource management, and, in principle, a design that is oriented towards people. In addition, green roofs, roof gardens, photovoltaics, and modern water treatment contribute to making the property a “positive footprint warehouse.”

     

  • Thyssenkrupp hot-dip galvanizing line

     

    On October 31, 2019, the foundation stone was laid for the new FBA 10 hot-dip galvanizing line on the Westfalenhütte site in Dortmund. It will produce up to 600,000 tons of hot-dip galvanized sheet metal, such as body parts for the automotive industry. The finished plant of the complex industrial building will consist of a process hall, which is divided into the areas of infeed, furnace, cooling tower, post-treatment, outfeed and the associated annexes, as well as a coil storage hall for the preliminary and finished stock. The plant will be around 350 meters long and measure around 65 meters at its highest point. Among other things, 8,000 tons of steel and around 24,000 cubic meters of concrete will be used. This also includes 180 bored piles with a diameter of around 1.5 meters, which will reach up to eleven meters deep into the ground. The plant is scheduled to go into operation in 2021.

     

  • Boehringer Biologicals Development Center

     

    In April 2023, the research-driven company Boehringer Ingelheim opened a development center for biopharmaceutical drugs at its Biberach site. Drees & Sommer joined the ongoing project in 2020, and will continue to provide support beyond its completion. 

    The main focus of the project was on establishing development and control laboratories, production units, and a logistics area. The client asked Drees & Sommer to support overall project management through a Project Management Office (PMO). 

    Based on a 360-degree project analysis, the team developed recommended courses of action and assisted with their implementation. Following rapid successes, Boehringer Ingelheim progressively commissioned a range of additional management services, including construction supervision, commissioning, qualification and pending issues management.
