Inselspital Bern

Location

Bern, Switzerland

Project duration

May 2012 – July 2014

A comprehensive modernization and redesign of the Inselspital is in full swing for the “health city” Inselspital with around 8,300 employees and around 44,000 inpatients per year.

Following the development of a master plan (2008 - 2012) and its transfer to a new development plan (UeO Insel Areal III), which was approved by a large majority of Bernese voters in 2015, the real estate strategy on the Insel campus is to grow into an orderly whole in the future. With the new main building, the most modern heart and vascular center in Switzerland (BB 12) is being created alongside various specialist clinics. In addition, the Theodor-Kocher-Haus will be extended to accommodate an organ and tumor center and a new radio-oncology unit (BB 6.1), and the women's clinic will be renovated at a total cost of over CHF 1 billion. Drees & Sommer Switzerland is supporting the client with, among other things, construction project assurance for the Inselspital construction projects.

Construction project assurance includes support for the “Infrastructure Development” program committee and the Board of Directors of the Insel Group. In addition to auditing the projects, construction project assurance also provides advice to the program manager, the program committee and the Board of Directors.
