New construction Center for Dental Medicine (ZZM), Zurich
With the construction of the new Children's Hospital (KiSpi) at the Lengg health center, the current KiSpi site in Hottingen will be available for subsequent use by the University of Zurich's Faculty of Medicine (Dental Center (ZZM) and Comprehensive Cancer Center Zurich (CCCZ)). This will replace the current ZZM location in the Zurich Center University Area (HGZZ), parts of which are in need of renovation.
The new ZZM building project, coupled with the renovation of the listed polyclinic on the current site of the Children's Hospital in Hottingen, will take over all teaching, research, and service functions currently offered at the previous location. The Center for Dental Medicine is part of the University of Zurich. As an internationally recognized clinic, training, and research center, it brings together seven specialized clinics and institutes under one roof.
With a total of 16,000 m² of main floor space, the compact 5-story building provides 3 floors for students, practitioners, and researchers from the Center for Dental Medicine (ZZM) organizational unit, as well as laboratory space for research groups from the Comprehensive Cancer Center Zurich (CCCZ). The CCCZ, as part of the University Hospital Zurich (USZ), the University of Zurich (UZH) and in collaboration with the Balgrist University Hospital and the University Children's Hospital Zurich (KiSpi), brings together various research groups and thus the knowledge of experts in cancer medicine and cancer research in the new building. The heart of the building is the atrium, which serves as an access and recreation area. The polyclinic houses the large lecture hall and office workspaces.
