With its "Late Stage Development & Small Molecules Launch Facility" (LSL for short), F. Hoffmann-La Roche Ltd is demonstrating its zeitgeist - and not for the first time.

Because only where development and production work together effectively do innovative medicines have the chance to help sick people quickly in times of increasingly complex authorisation processes by the authorities. Small molecules, i.e. low-molecular synthetic molecules, have recently been used more and more frequently and with increasing success against malignant tumours. LSL produces orally administered drugs such as tablets, hard gelatine capsules, granules and powders. The new production facility is the first of its kind, but is just one element of a major strategic development at Roche's headquarters in Basel and on the campus in neighbouring Kaiseraugst, which will prepare the pharmaceutical company for the future within a few years. The well-being of employees is at the centre of everything Roche does, as they are the ones who drive innovation.
