The Federal Real Estate Agency (BIG) is Austria's largest real estate owner and operates in three business sectors: schools, universities, and special properties. Its core business involves the management and administration of approximately 2,100 properties, spanning from new construction to demolition. BIG primarily serves as a service provider for the Republic of Austria, its institutions, and its outsourced companies.

Drees & Sommer, known at the time as immovement, was commissioned to conduct a feasibility study for the implementation of a CAFM system in the areas of portfolio, asset, and property management at BIG. Additionally, the study outlined initial concrete steps for system implementation.

The objective of the feasibility study was to examine all organizational, technical, economic, temporal, and legal aspects of the project implementation and critically evaluate them to ensure the achievement of the project goals.

In detail, the study comprehensively analyzed the need for process support in terms of functionality, data content, and the integration strategy of existing systems.

Furthermore, the organizational framework conditions and sociocultural influences were illustrated in the form of a comprehensive process map.
