Amare is a new center for culture, education, events, and meetings located on the Spuiplein in The Hague. This brand-new building is home to various concert venues, a theater hall, studios, teaching and rehearsal spaces, catering facilities and much more. Stichting Amare is in charge of running and organizing the scheduling for events at this building, which is the largest cultural venue in the Netherlands and also the home to The Hague's Residentie Orkest, Nederlands Dans Theater and the Royal Conservatoire. Drees & Sommer was asked by Stichting Amare (formerly Stichting Dans- en Muziekcentrum) to develop the building's general services concept and provide a fit-out of the various foyers, theater halls, and office spaces.
Stichting Amare asked Drees & Sommer to develop a general service concept aimed at creating the ultimate user experience. The first step was to map out all of the different user categories. At a public cultural center, this varies greatly throughout the day. Next, touchpoints capable of improving the user experience were defined by interviewing the user groups, and the hard and soft services that can contribute to it were assessed. The recommendations that followed were included in service level agreements that fit perfectly with Amare's vision, ambition, and brand identity.
This was followed by the practical design of the facility management organization, including making strategic decisions and purchasing the various services, as well as coordinating both the functional and technical management.
