World Bicycle Day 2021: Drees & Sommer supports World Bicycle Relief

From Lisbon to Athens and back: That's the distance Drees & Sommer employees covered – i.e. 8,461.02 kilometers – at various locations throughout Europe from June 3 to June 9. The campaign was for a number of good causes like getting exercise and environmentally friendly activities, while supporting a fundraising campaign. For each kilometer traveled, Drees & Sommer will make a donation to World Bicycle Relief, which promotes mobility in developing countries through cycling.

The global organization World Bicycle Relief gifts mobility to people in developing countries:  In particular, it provides young people with specially designed, sturdy, and locally assembled bicycles that they can take to school, work, or the hospital. Education and healthcare are strengthened – thanks to mobility alone.

The future of urban mobility

Road traffic is responsible for 28% of CO2 emissions within the EU. 62% of this is caused by private vehicles. By providing services in the Smart Infrastructure sector, Drees & Sommer is committed to creating climate-friendly mobility, such as with a study on the topic of cable cars for the German Federal Ministry of Transport.

On the way to becoming a Beneficial Company

Drees & Sommer’s long-term goal is to become a Beneficial Company. A company that – alongside its own corporate success – strives to provide the greatest possible benefit to the environment and society. Through pioneering and innovative concepts like Cradle to Cradle® and Blue City, this goal is reflected in the company’s projects.
