The Mercedes-Benz Museum built outside the gates of the plant at Untertürkheim is an architectural highlight and provides a high-profile platform for prestigious corporate events. With its geometrically curved elements and visitor guidance in the form of a double helix, the museum fully exploits the technical potential of the concrete structure.
The Mercedes Benz Museum is one of our Top Projects - a category reserved for work we are especially proud of. These projects have not only delivered exceptional value for our clients, but have also shaped us as a company.
Why the Mercedes Benz Museum deserves a place among our Top Projects:
- Architectural highlight—exterior: The gleaming silver monolith made of concrete, metal, and glass attracts attention
- Architectural highlight —interior: Ben van Berkel’s spectacular museum building is a work of art from the inside out. Its unusual shape reflects the exhibition’s core idea: the dynamic structure of a double helix
- Completed on schedule and on budget: Construction began in October 2003, and the Mercedes Benz Museum celebrated its opening on April 19, 2006

“It was a Monday. Max-Gerrit von Pein (then Managing Director of Mercedes Benz Museum GmbH, founded in 2002) took us to the former museum for the project kick-off meeting. It was overwhelming. There was a bright red convertible with a white leather interior, the Type 500 K Special Roadster—in the foreground. There was a large table for the meeting participants in the room. It was the perfect setting to get us all in the mood for the project.”
