Vienna is one of the most livable cities in the world and one of the European pioneers in the field of smart cities. The city pursues set goals that incorporate the ideas and wishes of residents, business and research. In addition, there are the ambitious sustainability goals that the city has set for itself, which contribute to the city of Vienna becoming climate-neutral by 2040. In addition, Vienna is considered the "Gateway to the East" and has since maintained and developed close relations with its eastern neighbors. Thus, industry and logistics also play a central role in the development of Vienna's urban environment, which is likely to intensify in the coming years as part of the reshoring trend. So is the city the role model for European urban transformation? Together with the ÖGNI (Austrian Society for Sustainable Real Estate), which is the Austrian counterpart to the DGNB, and the Circular Economy Forum Austria, we will explore these questions.
