February 2022 – March 2023
JetBrains, an international software development company, was looking for new, larger premises in order to expand its business operations in the Netherlands. Covering more than 12,500 m2 and with approximately 400 workplaces spread over ten floors, the new office space in Amsterdam’s Terrace Tower is many times larger than the present space. Terrace Tower, designed by architects BIG (Bjarke Ingels Group), is a prestigious office location where JetBrains has also used a high standard of interior design for its floors. As well as very well-appointed workplaces and meeting rooms, the JetBrains office also has several kitchen areas, its own company restaurant, gym, wellness room, prayer room, game room, barista bar, lounge, and events room.
The design of the new JetBrains office puts the emphasis on sustainability. Furniture is often upcycled, for instance, and herbs and vegetables are grown for use in the company restaurant. Every JetBrain floor is similar in design and layout, creating a clear identity and unity. The offices are zoned into different landscapes, including fields, deserts and forests, and this is reflected in the color palettes, materials, textures, and plants on each floor.
Drees & Sommer, working on behalf of JetBrains, was responsible for overall project management for the fit-out of the new JetBrains premises. Drees & Sommer additionally monitored and performed quality control on D/DOCK’s work and also managed procurement for the new location – including security, green spaces, audiovisual installations, office furniture, and kitchen appliances.
