"DIGITALIZATION, AI AND THE FUTURE OF URBAN LIVING SPACES"
The European real estate industry came together again this year at MIPIM in Cannes: From March 12 to 15, the "Global Urban Festival" on the Côte d'Azur was all about everything that moves real estate decision-makers.
Our guest speaker – Vivian Brady-Phillips, World Economic Forum’s Head of Strategic Initiatives for Urban Transformation – inspired the participants with her keynote speech "Cities thrive through Public-Private Collaboration". In it, she advocated greater collaboration between public and private organizations. Genuine dialog and exchange are needed to develop sustainable and resilient cities.
The topic that was of particular interest to MIPIM visitors this year is still the economic situation. There is great interest in leveraging untapped savings potential - both at property and portfolio level. Artificial intelligence can help to reduce energy consumption and make operations more economical.
One asset class in particular is currently benefiting from the rise of AI and streaming: data centers. The demand for data center capacity is growing exponentially and offers investors and project developers attractive yield opportunities beyond traditional asset classes.
Another trend: investments in infrastructure. Investors who previously focused mainly on real estate are diversifying their portfolios.
The increase in transactions in the weeks leading up to MIPIM gives reason for confidence. International players from the private equity sector in particular see opportunities for interesting investments in Europe.
What we take away from Cannes: The realization that internationalization is and remains important - and that companies active throughout Europe also demand this internationality from their consulting and implementation partners.
