A milestone for the energy transition and a strong sign for our strategic infrastructure consulting: Drees & Sommer supported the acquisition of Uniper Kraftwerke GmbH's district heating business by the Steag Iqony Group. The deal involved 750 kilometers of district heating pipelines and five generation sites.
The merger creates one of Europe's largest district heating networks in the Ruhr region. To prepare for this step, the zero-carbon experts analyzed the previous operator's facilities, focusing on their technical and economic condition and investment requirements. The future viability of the infrastructure and its decarbonization potential were particularly important.
