Completion of TRUMPF’s new administration building in Schramberg

An impressive new building has taken shape on the extensive TRUMPF campus in the idyllic Black Forest. The four-storey administration building comprises office and laboratory areas as well as meeting rooms for management and administration. With a total floor area of 14,000 square meters, the building also includes a Laser Application Center and the employee healthcare center. The highlight of the building is the staff restaurant on the upper floor looking out over the Black Forest.

The sophisticated architecture featuring high-quality fair-faced concrete walls and ceilings posed particular challenges for the Drees & Sommer construction management experts. The building’s other impressive features include a timber and glass design using a post and mullion construction and an elaborate timber roof support structure. As the floors are offset in relation to each other, the building’s exterior presents an interplay of cantilevers, parapet bands and spacious terrace areas. A high level of finesse and very close coordination were required for perfect coordination of the disciplines and processes involved. Here, the intensive exchange between the architects, the structural design team and the contractors ensured the punctual completion of the project.

Drees & Sommer was responsible for cost estimation and tracking, invitation to tender, contract award and site management (cost group 300) for the project.
