Sports and entertainment experts from Drees & Sommer speak about the scope, time frame and costs of the extension and refurbishment of the stadium on Hammer Strasse.

The present study is a more detailed update of an initial feasibility study which was prepared by the architectural office Albert Speer & Partner and which compared various options for the extension.

Drees & Sommer has now prepared a detailed update of the version of the future stadium which was selected in May 2020. At the presentation, the team from Drees & Sommer was supported by specialists from the cooperation partner CSIGHT.

Workshops with Different User Groups

The consultants carried out a number of workshops with users to find out exactly where their future needs lie. Consultations were held with the security authorities, representatives of the municipal administration, fans and stadium visitors, the commission to promote the inclusion of people with disabilities, the management of the club SC Preussen Münster and the club's service providers. The team also took into account the requirements of the German football league (DFL) and the German Football Association (DFB). Questions about digital processes and marketing were also clarified.

The revised study involves more than just a range of rooms and functions, it also focuses on the topic of sustainability – for example how the stadium can be supplied with regenerative energy.

The planned time frame for the extension of the stadium is from 2022 to 2027.
