Office building for federal authorities: Project at the Spreebogen successfully completed with IPA

With the raising of the standard, Federal President Frank-Walter Steinmeier moved into a new office building for federal authorities at Berlin’s Spreebogen as a temporary official residence in July 2026. The new building combines a modern, functional design with a clear architectural concept.
As part of the BEA consortium, the Drees & Sommer team helped shape the overall planning and supported the project right through to final acceptance and formal handover.
Thanks to Integrated Project Management (IPA), the BEA project has been a resounding success for Drees & Sommer. With the completion of the project, the company has once again demonstrated its strength in the implementation of complex public construction projects. It is thus making an important contribution to a major government building and strengthening its position as a reliable partner for public sector clients.
Staff at the Office of the Federal President are now also working at the temporary premises on the River Spree. The Office of the Federal President held its first events – such as the appointment of three new ministers – at the new official residence as early as the end of July.
The reason for the Federal President’s move is that both Bellevue Palace and the Office of the Federal President are due to undergo extensive renovation from 2026 onwards.
