Alzchem optimizes wastewater treatment – Final report on the conceptual study
The Alzchem Group manufactures numerous chemical products at its headquarters in Trostberg, including calcium cyanamide (calcium cyanide), dicyandiamide, and, in the future, increasingly creatine.
The central wastewater treatment plant ZABA at the Trostberg Chemical Park is an important part of the site, ensuring that all wastewater from the production plant can be purified and discharged into the nearby Alz Canal (direct discharge). A number of different process stages are available for this purpose at ZABA.
The study commissioned by Drees & Sommer was specifically designed to examine the cascade biology process stage and the associated machine technology. The analysis included the cyclical changes in the oxygen concentration of the wastewater, possible strategies to combat floating sludge formation, and process and machine optimizations.
